Dubai Basketball have made history by defeating Partizan 83-81 in Game 4 of the finals to win the 2025-26 ABA League championship.
In only their second season, the team achieved a major milestone by becoming the first club from Dubai and the UAE to win a major international league title. Their victory marks a remarkable rise from newcomers to champions in a very short time.
The win completes an impressive eight-month journey where Dubai Basketball competed in two leagues against some of Europe’s top and most experienced teams.
Head Coach Aleksander Sekulic praised the team, saying the title is very special for a club in just its second year. He said the success belongs to the players, coaching staff, and everyone involved in the journey. He also highlighted the team’s unity and fighting spirit, especially during a long period of playing away from home.
He added that the team is proud to bring the trophy to Dubai and the UAE, dedicating the victory to their supporters.
Dubai Basketball had a strong season overall, finishing first in the regular standings and dominating the playoffs with 29 wins out of 33 matches. They also remained unbeaten at home, which played a key role in their success.
Mfiondu Kabengele was named the Finals MVP after an outstanding performance, averaging 15.75 points across the series.
This championship is seen as a major achievement not only for the club but also for the growth of basketball in the UAE and the region, turning an ambitious vision into a historic success.
