Ghislaine Maxwell has lost her latest petition to throw out her conviction for helping late Jeffrey Epstein sexually abuse and exploit teenage girls.
On Tuesday, a decision was made public when US District Judge Paul Engelmayer said Maxwell’s claims were all baseless and all or almost all were frivolous.
The 64-year-old Maxwell who represented herself in confronting her December 2021 conviction and sentence in Manhattan federal court decried her detention declaring her wrongful sanction while prosecutors maintained that her latest claims were baseless and filed too late.
According to Maxwell, documents revealed earlier this year through the Epstein files Transparency Act show that her constitutional protections were breached because lawyers representing Epstein’s accusers served as “De Facto Prosecutors and agents of the government.”
The judge further stated that the alleged evidence was inconsequential to Maxwell’s case.
Judge Englemayer wrote on Tuesday, “Her petition claims are demonstrably meritless, and generally based on speculation, distortions, and/or outright falsehoods,”
“There is no fact that Maxwell fairly puts in dispute that has any potential to disturb the outcome of her trial,” Judge continued.
