Vin Diesel praises ‘Fast Forever’ script as best he has read in decades

‘I am still crying…’, Diesel revealed, speaking about the upcoming 11th instalment in the ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise

Vin Diesel has praised the script for Fast Forever, the upcoming 11th instalment in the Fast & Furious franchise, calling it the best screenplay he has read in decades.

Diesel shared his reaction on Instagram alongside a trailer for the 25th anniversary re-release of The Fast and the Furious, which returns to cinemas on August 21.

“I just read the ‘Fast Forever‘ script by [Michael Lesslie]. It is the best script I have read in decades,” Diesel wrote. “I am still crying…”

The actor also suggested that the new film will have a connection to the original 2001 movie, which starred Diesel alongside the late Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Rick Yue and Chad Lindberg.

“You will thank God you got to see the First one in the theaters this summer,” Diesel wrote.

The original The Fast and the Furious launched the long-running franchise and grossed $207 million worldwide. The most recent film, Fast X, was released in 2023 and earned $704 million globally.

Fast Forever follows the cliffhanger ending of Fast X, which featured post-credit scenes teasing the returns of Gal Gadot and Dwayne Johnson.

Louis Leterrier, who directed Fast X, will return to direct the new instalment. Michael Lesslie is credited with writing the screenplay after rewriting an earlier script by Aaron Rabin and Zach Dean.

Lesslie’s previous credits include The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, Assassin’s Creed, Macbeth and Now You See Me: Now You Don’t.

Fast Forever is scheduled to be released in cinemas on March 17, 2028.
