Vengeful spirits rise “The bell a call to die” haunts “Belitong”

A new Indonesian horror film, “The Bell: A Call to Die”, is creating buzz among horror fans for its mix of suspense, supernatural folklore, and chilling storytelling.

Directed by Jay Sukmo and written by Priesnanda Dwisatria, the movie stars Bhisma Mulia, Safira Ratu Sofya, and Givina Lukita.

The film tells the story of a stolen bell that awakens the vengeful ghost of Panebok in Belitong. The last descendant of a powerful shaman must recover the artifact and master forbidden rituals to stop the ghost’s bloody rampage.

According to the synopsis, nine lives, including the protagonist’s, hang in the balance. Director Jay Sukmo said, “We wanted to bring Indonesian folklore to life in a way that feels both scary and meaningful.

The story of Panebok has always fascinated me, and this film explores the consequences of disturbing sacred traditions.”

Writer Priesnanda Dwisatria added, “The heart of the film is not just fear it’s about family, legacy, and the responsibilities that come with knowledge. Our goal is to thrill the audience while honoring Belitong’s culture.”

The cast praised the film’s unique blend of horror and heritage. Bhisma Mulia, who plays the shaman’s descendant, said, “Filming in Belitong and working with local stories gave me a deeper connection to my character. It’s intense, but also very rewarding.”

“The Bell a Call to Die” promises a gripping experience for fans of supernatural thrillers, combining suspense, traditional rituals, and ghostly terror.

The film is expected to attract viewers who enjoy culturally rich horror stories that go beyond jump scares.
