Three killed after a tragic shooting occurred Saturday afternoon in a busy commercial and shopping area in Twin Falls, Idaho.
As reported by Reuters, the public information coordinator Josh Palmer informed an active shooter incident was reported at around 2:30 p.m. local time (2030 GMT) near an In-N-Out Burger restaurant in a high-traffic commercial area.
Local law enforcement, Idaho State Police, and the FBI responded to the chaotic scene, locking down nearby roads and the Perrine Bridge.
Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks told reporters the shooter was dead and the threat to the community was over.
Hicks said he did not know the exact death toll, but Palmer initially told Reuters that three people were dead and at least two injured.
The Twin Falls town of about 47,400 people lies in the central Idaho region of Magic Valley. The police department updated on social media that roads in the area and a nearby bridge were closed in the immediate aftermath of the report.
Authorities later informed, at least seven other people sustained injuries and were transported to St. Luke’s Magic Valley Medical Center for treatment.
As reported, police officials are interviewing hundreds of witnesses who were in the busy shopping district during the shooting, trying to identify the gunman and determine motives for the shooting as part of the probe.
