Twice’s Jeongyeon leaves JYP to pursue acting career

Jeongyeon, a member of K-pop girl group TWICE, has left her longtime agency, JYP Entertainment, and signed an exclusive contract with Varo Entertainment, an agency that also represents her older sister, actor Gong Seung-yeon.

Jeongyeon, whose real name is Yoo Jeong-yeon, spent 11 years with JYP Entertainment and made her debut with TWICE in 2015.

Varo Entertainment said in a statement that it was pleased to begin working with Jeongyeon, praising her wide range of talents and potential.

Under her new agency, Jeongyeon plans to pursue an acting career while continuing her activities with TWICE. The group is one of the leading girl groups in the K-pop industry.

In a social media message, Jeongyeon said she was initially afraid to leave a familiar environment but found the courage to make the change with support from her fellow TWICE members and the group’s fans, known as Once.

She said that although she was starting a new chapter with a new agency, she would continue to support TWICE, which she described as an important part of who she is.

Jeongyeon added that continuing to be a member of TWICE and standing before Once will always be her top priority.
