Trump signals critical night for Iran amid rising tensions

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has once again issued a strong warning to Iran, claiming that “an entire civilization could end tonight,” as tensions between the two sides continue to rise.

In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump stated that a 47-year history of “bloodshed, corruption, and death” may soon come to an end. He remarked that while he does not wish for such an outcome, it appears increasingly likely.

Trump further suggested that what he described as a “complete regime change” could lead to the emergence of “more intelligent and less extremist leadership,” potentially paving the way for a transformative and positive development.

Calling the moment one of the most significant in modern history, Trump expressed hope for a better future for the people of Iran, adding, “God bless the great people of Iran.”

The US president also indicated that a response from Iran is expected by 8:00 pm, heightening uncertainty around possible developments.

Trump has previously issued multiple deadlines regarding Iran: On March 21, he warned that if Iran did not reopen a key waterway within 48 hours, US forces could target power plants.

Two days later, he postponed potential strikes for five days, citing “productive discussions” with other countries. On March 27, he again delayed action by 10 days, setting a new deadline of April 6.

On April 3, he issued another 48-hour ultimatum for a possible agreement. On April 5, he reiterated his warning, hinting at potential strikes on infrastructure, and set Tuesday 8:00 pm (Eastern Time) as a critical moment.

The latest deadline, according to Pakistani time, was set to expire early Tuesday morning, adding to concerns of possible escalation in the region.
