Trump considers firing Jeanine Pirro after Reflecting Pool case dropped: report

President Donald Trump is considering removing Jeanine Pirro as US Attorney for the District of Columbia after the Justice Department concluded that damage to the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool was caused by a flawed renovation rather than vandalism.

According to CNN, citing sources familiar with the matter, Trump was “furious” over the court filing and felt he had been “blindsided” by the decision. One senior administration official told CNN the president was unaware the filing would be made.

Speaking at an unrelated Oval Office event on Monday, Trump criticised Pirro, saying: “Frankly, I think she choked, because the judge was really vicious. Instead of going after the people that did it, the judge went after her and went after her department, and I guess she choked.”

The Justice Department dropped its case against former Olympian David Hearn after stating the problems with the Reflecting Pool were the result of a “hasty and botched” renovation. H

Hearn had pleaded not guilty to a felony vandalism charge.

According to CNN, Pirro argued the Department of the Interior had failed to provide key information during the investigation.

However, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum rejected that claim and maintained that vandals caused the damage.

The case against Hearn has not yet been formally dismissed by the court.
