The East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust suspended or removed 10 employees from active duty following an unauthorized data breach involving the medical records of three-year-old Noah Woods.
The confidential medical files of the late toddler were inappropriately accessed by staff members following his tragic disappearance and subsequent death in Brantham, Suffolk.
As reported, Dr. Martin Mansfield, deputy chief medical officer at the trust, issued an unreserved apology to Noah’s family for the “extra anguish” caused by the breach, condemning the actions as completely unacceptable.
The trust launched an urgent internal investigation, locked down the patient files to block further non-clinical access, and formally reported the incident to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
The breach follows strict zero-tolerance warnings from NHS England leadership regarding staff “snooping” on high-profile patient files.
