Savannah Guthrie’s first words revealed after returning to ‘Today’ following weeks of absence

Savannah Guthrie, daughter of still-missing Nancy, has come back to her NBC morning show, Today.

The anchor previously informed her audience that she is going away for a while to shoot the upcoming game show Wordle – a word game that appeared in The New York Times.

“I’m headed over to shoot Wordle over the next few weeks,” she said at the time. “We’re going to shoot the whole season, and we’re super excited. Cannot wait for everyone to see it.”

On her return, she reunited with co-anchor Craig Melvin, leading her to say, “It’s nice to be back home.”

Despite getting back on airwaves, Savannah and her family have still been in agony over Nancy’s continued disappearance, and no suspect has yet been arrested in the case.

When this August marked the six months of the 84-year-old’s being missing, the TODAY anchor wrote another emotional post on social media, pleading with her mother’s presumed captors to tell them the answers they seek.

“This is our beautiful Mom. Six months ago, someone took her out of her bed in the dead of night. We have lived every moment, every breath, and every heartbeat in agony and despair ever since,” she began.

“Every day, we wake up and try to be strong and go on—because that’s what our joyful and resilient Mom taught us to do,” she continued.

“But make no mistake — our hearts are in ruins. Cam and Kristine; Annie and Tommy; Mike and I — we spend every waking moment thinking of her, longing for her, looking for her.

“There is a hole inside us that can never be filled,” Savannah achingly said in the post.

“There is an ache that cannot be softened. And there is a determination in us that cannot be quenched — to find out what happened to her so that we can give her the dignity of a proper goodbye — a celebration of her remarkable life that she so deserves,” she noted.

Nancy has been missing from her home, near Tucson, Arizona, since Feb. 1.
