Sarah J. Maas announces ACOTAR 6 and 7, prompting divided reactions from fans

Both books will form part of the Valkyrie Cycle which has particularly split readers looking forward to Elain’s story

Sarah J. Maas has announced the titles, cover art and release dates for the next two A Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR) books, prompting an immediate wave of mixed reactions from fans.

Book six, A Court of Splintered Harmony, will be released on October 27, 2026, followed by A Court of Forgotten Melody on January 12, 2027.

Both books will form part of the Valkyrie Cycle, with Maas previously explaining that the upcoming books are part of one larger story.

The announcement has particularly divided readers over the continued focus on Nesta, Gwyn and Emerie, whose Valkyrie storyline began in A Court of Silver Flames.

While some fans welcomed the continuation, others voiced frustration after years of waiting for Elain’s story.

One fan wrote, “what did us as a society do to deserve this”, while another said, “As much as I liked reading Nesta’s growth, I’m not sitting through 2 more books of the Valkyries after YEARS of waiting for Elain’s story.”

Other reactions focused on the book titles. One reader joked, “you can tell she’s running out of names”, while another wrote, “when i ask chatgpt to generate book titles in the style of a song of ice and fire”.

Some comments were more direct about the Valkyries storyline. “I did not wait 6 years to read about the valkyries,” one fan wrote.

With ACOTAR 6 arriving in October, discussions over Elain, the Valkyries and potential connections to Maas’ other series are likely to continue among readers.
