Sandra Bullock is confident that aliens already exist here on Earth, and she thinks they’re keeping a close eye on us.
Bullock shared her personal theory on extraterrestrial life during an appearance on the Therapuss podcast with Jake Shane where she was promoting her new film, Practical Magic 2.
The topic sparked by a discussion about her past sci-fi and post-apocalyptic projects like Gravity and Bird Box.
She said she believes aliens are likely benevolent and are already present on the planet, simply unseen, questioning why they wouldn’t be here given the vastness of the universe.
“I feel (aliens are) going to be really nice when they get here. I think they’re here, we don’t see them, they’re watching us… why would they not be here?” she pondered. “I think there for sure is (aliens on Earth).”
Her co-star Nicole Kidman offered a different perspective, saying she prefers not to dwell on questions like that, choosing instead to stay focused on enjoying the present moment rather than speculating about what else might be out there.
“I just love being here now. I mean, we can all get caught up in, ‘Oh my gosh, there’s this and there’s that, and everything.’ But it’s like, ‘Well, we’re here, stay right here, right now, and enjoy the moment,'” the 59-year-old stated.
Elsewhere in the conversation, Bullock also addressed the possibility of a Bird Box sequel, revealing she’s turned down the idea for now.
“They talked about it, but I was like, ‘Do I really want to (do that)?’ We made Bird Box during a time when things were really bucolic and peaceful in the world and everything seemed very calm,” she recalled.
She explained that the original film was made during a calmer period, and that revisiting that kind of tense, high-stakes storytelling doesn’t feel right to her given her current mindset and concerns about her family’s safety in today’s climate.
“Do I want to make something that really depicts where my mind is at right now with all my little panic boxes for me and the kids, should anything happen?’… I don’t want to do that right now… I don’t want to sit in that world.”
Practical Magic 2 is now playing in theaters.
