PSX close higher as benchmark index gains 1,392 points

KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange(PSX) ended Thursday’s session on a strong note, with shares rallying amid broad-based buying during the fourth trading day of the week.

The benchmark KSE-100 Index surged by 1,392 points to close at 169,911 points, compared to the previous session’s close of 168,519 points.

During intraday trading, the index climbed to a high of 170,899 points, reflecting sustained investor confidence.

Trading activity remained robust, with approximately 970 million shares exchanged, carrying a total value of Rs43 billion. Shares of 565 listed companies were traded during the session.

Market breadth stayed positive, as 307 companies recorded gains in their share prices, while 139 companies saw declines, indicating a bullish trend across most sectors.

Analysts attributed the upward momentum to renewed investor interest and improved market sentiment, driving the index to fresh highs during the session.
