ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Kuwait on Thursday signed a new defense agreement aimed at expanding military cooperation between their armed forces, including training, capacity building and border management.
Top officials from both countries signed the Protocol Agreement-2026 in Islamabad, strengthening the military cooperation framework established under the Defense Cooperation Agreement-2023, Pakistan’s Ministry of Defence said.
The agreement was signed during a meeting between Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif and a high-level Kuwaiti delegation led by Kuwait’s Minister of Defense Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Saleem Al-Sabah.
The two sides discussed matters of mutual interest, with particular focus on bilateral defense relations, security cooperation and further strengthening military ties between Pakistan and Kuwait, according to the ministry.
Under the new agreement, Pakistan’s armed forces will provide assistance to Kuwait’s armed forces in various areas, including training, capacity building, border management and other mutually agreed fields of defense cooperation.
The ministry said the agreement reflected the trust, mutual respect and shared strategic interests underpinning the longstanding defense relationship between the two countries.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral defense ties in support of mutual security, regional peace and stability.
Before meeting Asif, the Kuwaiti delegation met Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, according to Inter-Services Public Relations.
The meeting focused on regional security, matters of mutual interest and bilateral defense cooperation.
Both sides expressed their resolve to enhance institutional ties and expand mutually beneficial defense cooperation.
The Kuwaiti delegation praised the professionalism and operational capabilities of the Pakistan Armed Forces and recognized their contributions to regional peace and stability.

The meetings reaffirmed Pakistan and Kuwait’s commitment to turning their longstanding relations into a stronger and enduring defense partnership aimed at promoting regional security and stability.
