
KARACHI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has fined the Pakistan national cricket team for maintaining a slow over rate during the first Test against Bangladesh national cricket team in Dhaka.
Pakistan was also docked eight points in the ICC World Test Championship standings after being found eight overs short of the required target, with one point deducted for each over.
According to the ICC, Pakistan failed to complete its overs on time in the Test played in Dhaka.
Following the points deduction, Pakistan national cricket team slipped to eighth place in the ICC World Test Championship standings with just four points.

The sanction was imposed by match referee Jeff Crowe of the International Cricket Council.
Under ICC regulations, teams are fined 5% of their match fee and lose one World Test Championship point for every over they fall short of the target.
Pakistan captain Shan Masood accepted responsibility for the offense and admitted the breach, eliminating the need for a formal hearing.
Bangladesh won the opening Test by 104 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.
The second Test between Pakistan national cricket team and Bangladesh national cricket team will begin on Friday in Sylhet.
