Noah Kahan confirms ‘Draw You Out’ for ‘The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping’
Kahan revealed that the song will be released on October 2 and that he was “so honoured” to have the opportunity
Noah Kahan has announced Draw You Out, the lead single from The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping album, ahead of the upcoming film’s cinema release.
The 29-year-old singer-songwriter revealed that the song will be released on October 2. Kahan said he was “so honoured” to have the opportunity to write music specifically for the new film, which is based on Suzanne Collins’ dystopian novel.
“This is something I’ve always wanted to do and I am so grateful for the opportunity to write for this moving film,” Kahan said in a social media post, adding that he has long admired Collins’ work.
Draw You Out was written specifically for the film and sees Kahan reunite with Grammy-winning producer Aaron Dessner. The pair co-wrote and co-produced the track at Long Pond Studio in New York and studios in Nashville.
Kahan said he was particularly connected to the story of Haymitch Abernathy and his girlfriend Lenore Dove, whose relationship plays a significant role in the prequel.
“I was already totally connected and inspired by the tragic yet hopeful story of Haymitch and Lenore Dove,” he said, describing the process of writing about the characters’ purpose, grief and perseverance through pain as an experience he would remain grateful for.
The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is set 24 years before the events of the original The Hunger Games story and follows a young Haymitch as he is selected to compete in the 50th Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell.
Joseph Zada plays the younger Haymitch in the film, with Mckenna Grace starring as fellow tribute Maysilee Donner. The cast also includes Ralph Fiennes as President Snow, Kieran Culkin as Caesar Flickerman, Elle Fanning as Effie Trinket and Jesse Plemons as Plutarch Heavensbee.
Kahan is not the first major artist to contribute an original song to the Hunger Games franchise. Taylor Swift previously recorded Safe & Sound with The Civil Wars for the first film, while Olivia Rodrigo contributed Can’t Catch Me Now to The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes.
The full The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping album will arrive on November 13 and features 29 artists across multiple genres. Kahan’s Draw You Out will be the first single released from the project.
The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on November 20, 2026.
