Gabriel Tierney, Auliʻi Cravalho, Peter Berry, Chaneil Kular, Devin Craig and Aidan Shaw have joined the series
Netflix has expanded the cast of Icebreaker, its upcoming college hockey romance drama based on Hannah Grace’s bestselling novel of the same name.
Gabriel Tierney, Auliʻi Cravalho, professional athlete Peter Berry, Chaneil Kular, Devin Craig and Aidan Shaw have joined the series as regular cast members. They join previously announced leads Daisy Jelley and Connor Simos.
Icebreaker follows Anastasia Allen (Jelley), a transfer student determined to reach the Olympics, and Nate Hawkins (Simos), a campus hockey star pursuing a career in the NHL. When an accident forces their teams to share a rink, their rivalry begins to develop into an intense romance.
Tierney, known for Rivals and Enola Holmes 2, will play Aaron, while Cravalho, who voiced the title character in Moana, will portray Lola. Berry will play Robbie, Kular will appear as JJ, Craig will portray Henry and Shaw will play Russ.
The series is based on the first book in Grace’s Maple Hills trilogy. Icebreaker spent 70 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list after its original publication in November 2022 and wider release in 2023. The novel has sold nearly five million copies worldwide, while the three-book Maple Hills series has surpassed 7.5 million copies in global sales.
Jade Halley Bartlett, whose credits include Road House, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Miller’s Girl, created Icebreaker and serves as an executive producer. Amanda Lasher is the series’ showrunner, writer and executive producer.
Grace also executive produces alongside Alex Cooper, Matt Kaplan and Mina Lefevre for Cooper’s Unwell Productions.
