Ex-Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir was asked who he would pick among Ronaldo and Messi
Gautam Gambhir, the former Indian cricketer and now a lawmaker associated with India’s governing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has snubbed both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as the greatest footballers.
The cricketer-turned-politician made headlines again with his surprising comments in a video that has gone viral on social media.
In the video, he was asked whom he considered the best among Messi and Ronaldo. His response, although he’s no football expert, left the internet in fits.
“Ronaldo or Messi?” the former cricketer was asked during an apparent live session. In response, after taking a few moments, he said: “None”.
But it didn’t end there. He further put forward the name of an English player whom he thinks is better than both of them.
“Because I think, I would go for Marcus Rashford.”
This did not sit well with football fans and they launched a scathing criticism at the former cricketer. They asked Gambhir how could he overlook the achievements of the two football greats.
The duo has been the center of attention for the better part of their careers — spanning around 20 years. They share 13 Ballon d’Or awards between them.
