ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) warned citizens on Sunday against fake tracking IDs and false information spreading on social media, urging people to protect their personal data and use only official channels.
NADRA officials said tracking IDs will not be shared through comments on social media platforms because doing so could put citizens personal information at risk. The authority advised people not to post their tracking numbers or other private details in public comments on NADRA’s official social media pages.
The authority also asked citizens to avoid trusting unverified accounts, suspicious links and unknown messages related to NADRA services.
People were advised to confirm information through official sources before taking any action. NADRA said citizens can check their tracking information through the SMS service by sending a message to 8400.
The authority added that its digital services are also available through the Pak ID mobile application, allowing citizens to access identity related services through an official platform.
NADRA again reminded the public not to share identity documents, personal details or sensitive information online. Officials said citizens should carefully verify any messages or links received from unknown sources to avoid possible fraud.
Previously, NADRA introduced a home based service facility for senior citizens and people with disabilities who face difficulties visiting NADRA offices.
Under the service, eligible citizens can book an appointment and request a visit from a NADRA Biker at their home. The facility allows them to renew or update their National Identity Cards without travelling to a registration center.
