The Michael Jackson biopic Michael has crossed $900 million at the global box office, according to Deadline, marking a major milestone for Lionsgate’s highest-grossing release to date.
The film is now within $11 million of overtaking Bohemian Rhapsody, which stands at $911 million worldwide, positioning Michael to potentially become the highest-grossing musical biopic ever if it maintains its current trajectory.
Internationally, the film has earned more than $544.8 million, with a domestic total of $355.2 million. Lionsgate’s share includes Russia, where the film has grossed $10 million through Volga distribution.
Michael is currently in its seventh week of release and continues to perform strongly across key global markets. Its top-performing territories include the United Kingdom with $68 million, France with $54.3 million, and Germany with $34.4 million, alongside Brazil at $32.2 million and Mexico at $31.4 million.
Other notable results include Australia at $30.7 million, Italy at $29.1 million, Spain at $26.1 million, Colombia at $14.3 million, and the Netherlands at $14 million.
Additional earnings have been recorded in South Korea at $11.2 million, China at $10.3 million, Russia at $10 million, the UAE at $9.7 million, Peru at $9.6 million, India at $8.3 million, Switzerland at $8 million, and Belgium at $7.4 million.
The film, produced on a reported budget exceeding $200 million before global marketing and distribution costs, continues its international rollout through Kino in partnership with Lionsgate, with industry analysts watching closely for whether it can reach the $1 billion global benchmark in the coming weeks.
