Maura Higgins lands major new role as host of Disney+’s ‘Blind Date’

Maura Higgins will host Disney+’s ‘Blind Date’ reboot, bringing the iconic dating show to a new generation

Maura Higgins is taking on a new reality television role, with the Love Island and The Traitors star set to host Disney+’s upcoming revival of the iconic dating show Blind Date.

The British dating format, which originally aired from 1985 to 2003, is being reimagined for modern audiences. The new Disney+ series promises to retain the programme’s signature matchmaking format while introducing new twists and more drama.

As in the original series, contestants will choose between three potential suitors hidden behind the famous Blind Date wall. Without seeing the people they are choosing from, daters will have to rely on their conversations and instincts before deciding who could potentially become their romantic match.

Disney+ says the reboot will feature new format twists and plenty of drama, with contestants discovering whether their connections can develop into lasting relationships while other potential partners remain behind the wall.

Higgins is a familiar face in the reality television world. She rose to fame as a finalist on Love Island UK before becoming the host of Love Island USA: Aftersun. Earlier in 2026, she competed on The Traitors U.S., where she finished as the runner-up. She is also scheduled to appear on Dancing With the Stars this fall.

Disney+ EMEA head of content Angela Jain said Higgins is well suited to the role because of her direct humour and experience as both a reality contestant and television personality.

The new Blind Date series is expected to begin filming at a secret location later this year. The show is commissioned by Disney+ EMEA and executive produced by Matthew Worthy and Kieran Doherty for Stellify Media, alongside Graham Stuart for SO TV.

A premiere date has not yet been announced.
