Matt Damon has four daughters, and when one of them saw the actor’s forthcoming epic The Odyssey, she was overwhelmed.
Though the star did not name which daughter she was, she shared that she usually teased him about his movies.
Yet, when she watched Christopher Nolan’s movie, her seal of approval was nonetheless straightforward.
“I have one daughter who’s really not reverential at all about [my movies] and loves to give me s****.”
He continued, “She saw The Odyssey, and at the end she actually turned to me and she said, ‘Dad, I’m proud of you.’”
Damon admitted the compliment coming from her daughter was rare, which, he said, made his sacrifice worthwhile.
“She’s never said anything like that, because we joke around a lot. At that point I was kind of like, ‘I’m good. It was all worth it.’”
By sacrifice, Damon referred to The Odyssey, demanding preparation as the movie was shot across five countries, from Scotland to Iceland and from Greece to Italy and Morocco.
“This movie was by far the hardest movie to the most challenging movie I’ve ever been a part of,” he said, adding, “It completely maxed out and straining against what they thought was possible.”
“It really felt more like an expedition than a movie,” he notes. “And if you were cold and wet, you just turned and you looked and Chris was just as cold and just as wet and going through it.”
The Odyssey is in cinemas on July 17.
