
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister “Maryam Nawaz” started her official visit to Azerbaijan with important meetings and ceremonial visits in the capital city of Baku.
A high-level delegation accompanied the chief minister during the three-day visit. Azerbaijani officials warmly welcomed Maryam Nawaz with delegation at Baku Airport. Deputy Minister for Defence Industry “Mehman Bakhshiyev” received Maryam Nawaz upon her arrival.
In addition, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador “Khazar Farhadov” and other officials also attended the welcome ceremony.
Tribute to Heydar Aliyev:
Soon after arriving in Baku, Maryam Nawaz visited the mausoleum of national leader Heydar Aliyev. She laid flowers at his grave and offered “Fateha” in tribute to his services for Azerbaijan.
Moreover, the Punjab chief minister expressed good wishes for the country’s continued progress and development. She also highlighted the importance of strengthening relations between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.
Visit to martyrs’ alley memorial:
Maryam Nawaz visited the Martyrs’ Alley memorial in Baku. During the visit, she laid flowers and paid tribute to Azerbaijani martyrs who sacrificed their lives for their country. Members of the Pakistani delegation and Azerbaijani officials accompanied her throughout the visit.
Pakistan to participate in Global Forum:
During her stay, Maryam Nawaz will represent Pakistan at the World Urban Forum and address the World Leaders Summit at Baku Olympic Stadium. Furthermore, she will present Punjab’s “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” housing initiative before an international audience.
Officials say the project highlights affordable housing opportunities and modern urban planning in Punjab.
According to “The Nation reports” Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Information Minister Azma Bukhari, Housing Minister Bilal Yasin, Sports Minister Faisal Ayub, Agriculture Minister Ashiq Hussain Kirmani and Special Assistant Ali Dar are also part of the delegation.
Maryam Nawaz’s visit reflects growing cooperation between Pakistan and Azerbaijan. Through diplomatic meetings and international forums, both countries aim to improve relations and expand collaboration in development and urban planning.
