Lil Wayne has been selected to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame as part of the Class of 2027, marking a major milestone in the rapper’s career.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced that the New Orleans rapper will be honoured in the Recording category, joining a class that includes Karol G, David Guetta, Grandmaster Flash, Sia, Linkin Park, The Ramones, Smashing Pumpkins and the late Waylon Jennings.

The five-time Grammy Award winner shared his reaction on social media, revealing that longtime friend and collaborator Fabian Marasciullo was the first to tell him the news.

Wayne admitted he initially thought it was a joke, writing, “Ok so my brother is Fabian right, and he play too fkn much like brothers do….this man just told me that it’s been confirmed that im getting my own star on the Hollywood walk of fame!!!! Wtf boy!! This man play too much bruh! U serious boy??!?!?!!?”

The honour follows decades of commercial and critical success that established Lil Wayne as one of hip hop’s most influential artists.

His acclaimed Tha Carter album series, alongside the Dedication and Da Drought mixtape collections, helped redefine modern rap and mixtape culture.

Wayne has also played a pivotal role in shaping the careers of artists including Drake and Nicki Minaj through his Young Money label.

His catalogue includes hit singles such as “Lollipop”, “A Milli”, “Go DJ” and “6 Foot 7 Foot”, while his guest appearances have earned widespread acclaim throughout his career.

The rapper has sold more than 120 million records worldwide, cementing his place among the best-selling artists in hip hop history.

An official date for Wayne’s Hollywood Walk of Fame unveiling has not yet been announced.

Recipients have up to two years to schedule their induction ceremony after being selected by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.
