Lena Dunham took a trip down her memory lane during her Famesick book tour in Los Angeles, recalling early chapters from her love life.

It was during the final stop of her book tour on May 20 when she revealed that her husband, Luis Felber, had no idea why she was famous when they first met—something she says was one of the things she loved most about meeting Felber.

The 40-year-old writer said Felber had never watched her hit HBO series, Girls, and instead, thought she was a model.

“The thing that was so amazing about meeting him, he’d never seen Girls,” Dunham recalled.

Dunham said she found out about it when, before their first meeting, someone had messaged Felber on Instagram asking if he would be interested in having dinner with her. His reaction was unexpected and surprisingly sweet, Dunham revealed.

She said Felber assumed she might be famous for working as a curve model rather than for acting, writing or directing. Dunham admitted she found the comment charming and called it “the loveliest thing” she had ever heard.

Dunham also revealed that Felber approached their relationship without many assumptions about who she was. She said he seemed interested in getting to know her as a person but was not overly focused on her public image or celebrity status.

“He was present and interested but not too interested,” Dunham shared.

Dunham and Felber first met in 2021 after being set up on a blind date. Their relationship moved quickly, and within months they were living together. The couple married later that same year in a private ceremony.

While discussing their marriage, Dunham described her husband as an incredibly kind and supportive person.

“I love to talk about him because he fills me with joy,” she shared.

She said his personality and emotional understanding are what matter most to her, while his creativity and sense of humor are an added bonus.

“And so all that other stuff, like him being funny and cute and cool and creative, is like the cherry on top,” she told People. “Lou is able to really hold people’s complexity and still do everything in a way that’s very anchored in love.”
