Kit Harington is all set to star as Professor Gilderoy Lockhart in the upcoming HBO Max’s Harry Potter series.

It is worth mentioning here that the 39-year-old actor previously voiced the character in Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions.

While appearing on the Today show on Wednesday, Kit revealed why he joined the seires.

“I’ve been a lifelong Harry Potter fan,” Kit said. “I was a fan when I was a kid, and then I rediscovered it as an adult, listening to it every night.”

“I listen to it every single night, and it helps me go to sleep, and I know other people do that as well, so they’re really important books to me,” he continued.

“When I knew this was happening as a series, I thought it was the best idea,” the Game of Thrones star added. “Because I love the films, but with this, they can really explore the books at their fullest, and for a book nerd like me, that was a really great idea.”

Kit further told the publication that he has “had eyes on” the TV series for a while because he “really wanted to be in it.”

When he asked if production for the second season had begun, the actor replied, “We’re into it now. We’re into the second season.”

“I feel like there’s sort of HBO snipers everywhere,” he jokingly added. “I can’t say anything. It’s the most secretive thing.”
