Reactions on social media ranged from strong support to criticism of the song’s overall execution
KATSEYE’s latest track, “Hootie Frutti”, has received a mixed response from fans following its release as part of the group’s WILD EP.
The song was released on August 14 alongside the five-member group’s latest extended play through HYBE UMG and Geffen Records.
While some listeners have praised its playful energy and potential for live performances, others have criticised its repetitive sound and lyrics as well as the promiscuous visuals and choreography in the music video.
Reactions on social media ranged from strong support to criticism of the song’s overall execution.
One user wrote, “I refuse to believe you guys actually gaf about Katseye’s younger audience watching the hootie frootie video when we all had this mv on repeat when we were kids.”
Another user wrote, “I know they don’t write these songs themselves but a group of six now five and not one is like ‘what s***y song is this?’. Hooty frooty indeed katseye.”
A third commenter said, “See i never thought id see the day where i say this but i agree hootie fruitti is so bad”.
The WILD EP includes “Pinky Up”, “Animal”, “Hootie Frutti”, “Bel Air”, “That Way” and “Unloveu”, with “Unloveu” available exclusively on the physical edition.
“Pinky Up” was released on April 9 followed by “Animal” on July 24, before “Hootie Frutti” arrived with the full EP.
KATSEYE’s Wildworld Tour is scheduled to begin in Dublin on September 1 and conclude in Mexico City on November 27.
