K-Electric suspends maintenance shutdowns amid heatwave in Karachi

K-Electric has suspended its maintenance shutdowns due to the ongoing heatwave in Karachi.

Head of Distribution Operations Khurram Abdullah said that if the “feels like” temperature in any area reaches 45°C, no economic load shedding will be carried out there.

He explained that illegal connections (kundas) lead to overloading, which causes local faults and accidents. He added that K-Electric teams are present in the field to fix such issues and emphasized that cooperation from residents is essential to resolve these faults.

Khurram Abdullah also advised citizens to stay indoors during the heatwave, wear light clothing, and increase their water intake to stay safe.
