Ishaq Dar arrives in Washington for key meeting with Marco Rubio

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar arrived in Washington on an official visit, where he is scheduled to hold an important and high-level meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

The talks are expected to focus on Pakistan–US bilateral relations, evolving regional dynamics, and matters of mutual strategic interest.

Upon his arrival in the US capital, Ishaq Dar was received by Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, along with senior diplomatic officials, reflecting the formal diplomatic significance attached to the visit.

According to diplomatic sources, the upcoming meeting between Ishaq Dar and Marco Rubio will provide an opportunity for both sides to undertake a comprehensive exchange of views on strengthening bilateral cooperation, enhancing diplomatic engagement, and addressing key regional and global developments

The discussions are also expected to touch upon areas of convergence in political, economic, and security cooperation.

The visit comes at a time of sustained high-level diplomatic interaction between Pakistan and the United States, as both countries continue to engage on critical regional and strategic issues. Officials indicated that the meeting is aimed at reinforcing bilateral ties and reviewing the broader regional security landscape.

After concluding his engagements in Washington, the Deputy Prime Minister is expected to depart for Islamabad later the same day.

Earlier, Ishaq Dar held extensive discussions with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in New York, where both leaders deliberated on regional peace, multilateral cooperation, and the strengthening of a rules-based international order.

The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to sustained diplomatic engagement and underscored the importance of stability, dialogue, and cooperation in addressing regional challenges.
