
TEHRAN: A massive public gathering was held in Iran just one week before the national football team’s departure for the FIFA World Cup 2026.
According to international media reports, thousands of supporters assembled at Revolution Square in Tehran, chanting slogans in support of the team and offering prayers for its success in the tournament.

The players also met with President Masoud Pezeshkian, presenting him with the team’s number 12 jersey.
Meanwhile, the president of the Football Federation Islamic Republic of Iran confirmed Iran’s participation in the FIFA World Cup 2026.
Addressing the squad, President Pezeshkian urged the players to give their maximum effort for the honor and pride of Iran.

“The Iranian nation is praying for you to enter the field with full strength and return with distinction,” he said.
He expressed confidence that the team would emerge as a symbol of national pride and unity, adding that the country was proud of its hardworking athletes.
In a separate statement, the head of the Aerospace Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said the entire nation stood firmly behind the team at every step.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to begin next month in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Iran will play its opening match against New Zealand on June 15 in Los Angeles.
Meanwhile, Iran’s national football team has unveiled its new home kit for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, designed by a local sports brand ahead of the global tournament.
The new jersey features a classic white design and closely resembles the kit worn by Iran during the 2022 World Cup.
A prominent watermark of the Asiatic cheetah has once again been incorporated into the shirt, while the sleeves include tonal patterns inspired by animal skin.
The sleeve edges are accented with the colors of the Iranian flag, with red logos and squad numbers adding a distinctive touch.
According to Iran’s state news agency, the national team will depart for Türkiye to begin a pre-World Cup training camp in Antalya, where the squad will also play two friendly matches.
A special farewell ceremony was held at Revolution Square in Tehran, attended by players, coaching staff, football federation officials and prominent sports personalities.
During the event, the team’s official World Cup anthem and the newly unveiled jersey were presented to the public.
Iran has been drawn in Group G alongside Belgium, Egypt and New Zealand.
