Hunter Biden has offered an apology to his father after shedding light on how his addiction struggles affected his father, Joe Biden.

During his appearance on Real Time with Bill Maher on Friday, August 21, the American artist, disbarred former attorney, and businessman opened up about his alcohol and drug abuse journey and the toll it took on his father, the former President of the United States.

When Maher asked him if he ever sought forgiveness from his dad for putting him in a “tough situation,” Hunter told the host that he apologizes to him “every day.”

He stated, “It’s one of the greatest heartaches of my life. The trouble with recovery is this, I get to get out here and I talk about how I’ve been healed, how I’m, you know, I’m stronger than I’ve ever been … The real harm happened to all of the people around [addicts]. And the trauma for them goes very, very deep.”

“They don’t get to come out on this show and talk about how well they’re doing and everything’s all great,” the 56-year-old said.

Hunter went on to explain that his addiction took him away from his daughters, Naomi, Finnegan, Maisy, and Navy Joan, for two years. His struggles reached a limit when he lost his brother, Beau Biden, who succumbed to brain cancer.

“I was not there for them and I can never make up for that. And same with my dad. [He] is unconditional love – it’s not love without consequences,” he admitted.

It is pertinent to mention that Hunter Biden has been sober for the past seven years.
