KARACHI: Electricity prices in Karachi have been reduced by PKR 2.99 per unit, bringing some relief to consumers in the city. However, for the rest of the country, electricity will become more expensive, with a price hike of PKR 0.93 per unit.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) issued separate notifications for these price adjustments, which are part of their monthly reviews. For Karachi, this price cut is reflected in the monthly adjustment for March 2025 and customers will see the benefit in their June bills.
Conversely, for consumers outside Karachi (those served by DISCOs), the electricity price increase is based on the April 2025 monthly adjustment. This means Karachi customers will receive a relief of PKR 4 billion in their June bills, while consumers served by DISCOs will face an additional burden of PKR 11 billion in their June bills.
