‘DWTS’ alums Peta Murgatroyd and Maks Chmerkovskiy say goodbye in emotional video after major move

The former ‘Dancing With the Stars’ professionals, described the move as ‘the best decision’ for their family
Peta Murgatroyd and Maksim Chmerkovskiy have officially relocated from Los Angeles to Boca Raton, Florida, describing the move as “the best decision” for their family.
The former Dancing With the Stars professionals documented their emotional move in a YouTube video and shared a tearful moment on Instagram as they left California with their three sons, Shai, Rio and Milan.
The couple, who have been based in Los Angeles for years, were seen becoming emotional while driving away with moving boxes packed into their vehicle.
Reflecting on the life-changing decision, Murgatroyd wrote, “There are tears you don’t expect, goodbyes that hit harder than you imagined, and moments where you wonder if you’re making the right decision.”
Despite the emotional farewell, she said the family was confident they had made the right choice.
“The best decision for our family,” she wrote, before adding, “Our boys are so happy, our hearts are full, and we’re incredibly grateful for this new chapter. Goodbye LA. Hello Florida. 🌴❤️.”
The move marks a significant change for Murgatroyd, 39, and Chmerkovskiy, 46, who built much of their careers in Los Angeles after finding success on Dancing With the Stars. The pair have become one of the franchise’s best-known couples, both on and off the ballroom floor.
Their relocation comes as they prioritise family life with their three young children.
While the couple acknowledged the difficulty of leaving behind familiar surroundings, they suggested the decision was made with their children’s future in mind.
The emotional videos prompted supportive reactions from fans, many of whom wished the family well as they begin their next chapter in Boca Raton after saying goodbye to Los Angeles.
