Dolly Parton’s estate has dropped its lawsuit against her nephew, Bryan Seaver.
On Thursday, She’s Alive LLC, the company managing Parton’s affairs, filed a notice with a Nashville state court that it was voluntarily dismissing the case, via The New York Times.
The lawsuit was dismissed without prejudice, meaning it can potentially be filed again.
Following the decision, Seaver’s lawyer, Dominic J. Leonardo, told TMZ, “Mr. Seaver cares deeply about his Aunt Dolly, her music, her family, and the incredible legacy she left behind. He has made a career out of protecting his aunt while she was alive and remains committed to Dolly and his entire family.”
He continued, “Mr. Seaver is grateful to put this misunderstanding behind him so that the entire family can continue to grieve peacefully and ensure that the bright light of Dolly’s legacy remains entirely untouched.”
The lawsuit was original filed in September by the Parton’s estate’s longtime manager Danny Nozell.
It is pertinent to mention that Seaver worked as Parton’s head of security for more than 20 years.
However, he was fired just a few weeks after announcing the singer’s death in August.
In September, Seaver and his security company were informed that their services were no longer needed.
At the time, a representative for his security firm, SAPS, told Us Weekly, “We remain unshakably resolved to fulfill her final directive to protect her family. We refuse to be intimidated by those whose actions we believe are being taken in bad faith and with the intent to profit from the life of someone who willingly gave so much.”
