Does the ‘Stranger Things’ cast still talk to each other? Joe Keery reveals who’s most active in group chat
Keery who plays Steve Harrington in the series, spoke at the opening night of his Broadway play ‘Other Desert Cities’
Joe Keery has revealed that the cast of Stranger Things continue to stay in touch through a group chat, despite moving on to new projects following the series finale.
The 34-year-old actor, who played Steve Harrington in the Netflix series, discussed the cast’s ongoing friendship during an interview with People at the opening night of his Broadway play, Other Desert Cities, last week.
Asked about the group chat, Keery revealed that his former co-stars remain in contact and identified Finn Wolfhard as a possible contender for the most active member.
“Oh, man, maybe Finn [Wolfhard], I guess maybe, yeah, we’re keeping in touch,” he said.
Keery also spoke about receiving advice from fellow Stranger Things star Sadie Sink before making his Broadway debut.
Sink has considerable theatre experience, having appeared in productions including Annie and John Proctor Is the Villain, for which she received a Tony Award nomination.
The actor revealed that he met Sink in London before she began performing in Romeo & Juliet on the West End. During their meeting, she encouraged him to explore theatre.
“I saw her before Romeo & Juliet opened when I was across the pond, and she had some good words of advice and really kind of urged me to do [theater too]. She thought I would have a nice time,” Keery told People.
He also shared an update about keeping in contact with Gaten Matarazzo, who has been performing in Rent.
“And then I’ve been texting Gaten [Matarazzo] as Rent has opened, and yeah, he’s killing it over there.”
Keery’s comments offer a glimpse into how the Stranger Things cast continue to support one another beyond the series.
