Tickets for the Broadway engagement will go on sale October 9, 2026, following a fan presale on October 8
Dirty Dancing: The Musical is heading to Broadway for the first time, with the stage adaptation of the beloved 1987 film set to begin a limited engagement at New York’s Lena Horne Theatre in February 2027.
The musical will begin previews on February 12, 2027, before officially opening on February 22. The Broadway run is scheduled through September 5, with a special gala performance planned for March 14 as part of celebrations marking the original film’s 40th anniversary.
Annalese Starzec and Blake Zelesnikar will reprise their roles as Frances “Baby” Houseman and Johnny Castle from the current North American tour. The production is directed by Lonny Price, who appeared in the original film as Neil Kellerman, with choreography by Darrell Grand Moultrie.
Original Dirty Dancing screenwriter Eleanor Bergstein has written the musical, which follows the story of Baby and Johnny as they meet during her family’s summer holiday at a resort in the Catskills in 1963. The stage production features songs from the film, including (I’ve Had) The Time of My Life and Hungry Eyes.
The Broadway production follows the launch of the North American tour, which began in August 2026. The touring production is scheduled to continue across the US and Canada before the Broadway engagement begins.
The original Dirty Dancing, starring Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze, was released in 1987 and became a major cultural hit. The film grossed more than $200 million worldwide and won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life”.
