DG ISPR addresses press conference on Marka-e-Haq anniversary

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry addressed a press conference on the first anniversary of Marka-e-Haq, outlining events related to last year’s military escalation between Pakistan and India.

He said that on May 6–7, India after levelling what he described as baseless and unfounded allegations against Pakistan over an incident in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, launched an attack on Pakistani territory.

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry stated that Pakistan responded with full military force, effectively countering the aggression and demonstrating its defensive capability.

He noted that the situation escalated into an over 80-hour standoff, which eventually came to an end on May 10 following intervention from the United States.

According to the briefing, multiple Indian jets and drones were downed during the exchange, while Pakistan’s response was described as decisive and measured.

He added that the events reinforced Pakistan’s position as a “net regional stabiliser” and highlighted the country’s preparedness and resolve in defending its sovereignty.
