Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s family breaks silence after D4vd’s arrest: ‘Justice for Celeste’

The family of Celeste Rivas Hernandez has issued a public response following the arrest of singer D4vd in connection with her death.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that the 21-year-old artist, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, was arrested on April 16 on suspicion related to the case.

Hernandez, aged 14 at the time, was found dead in September 2025 in the trunk of an impounded Tesla registered to Burke.

In a statement shared through family attorney Patrick Steinfeld, Hernandez’s father, Jesus Rivas, said, “Thank God … justice for Celeste.” The suspect is currently being held without bail as investigations continue.

Steinfeld indicated that the family intends to remain actively involved in forthcoming legal proceedings. If charges are filed, they plan to exercise their rights under California’s Victims’ Bill of Rights, also known as Marsy’s Law, and attend the arraignment, as well as any subsequent press conferences.

Authorities stated that the case will be presented to the District Attorney’s office for consideration.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles District Attorney added, “The case is expected to be presented to the Major Crimes Division, at which point prosecutors will review the facts and evidence to determine whether there is sufficient evidence to file charge.”

Burke’s legal representatives have denied the allegations. In a statement, they said, “Let us be clear – the actual evidence in this case will show that David Burke did not murder Celeste Rivas Hernandez and he was not the cause of her death.”

They added, “There has been no indictment returned by any grand jury in this case and no criminal complaint filed. David has only been detained under suspicion. We will vigorously defend David’s innocence.”

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not confirmed any direct connection between the two individuals.
