Anmol’s hospital transfer put on hold

Security concerns and stable medical condition prompt jail authorities to postpone SIUT visit

KARACHI:

The planned transfer of alleged ‘Cocaine Queen’ Anmol alias Pinky to the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) for medical examination was postponed at the last moment on Tuesday, jail authorities confirmed.

According to officials, Pinky complained of kidney-related discomfort, prompting jail administration to schedule her medical check-up at SIUT at 8am. However, the visit was later called off.

Sources said the decision to postpone the transfer was taken due to security concerns, as authorities termed Pinky a high-profile prisoner facing 23 criminal cases. The jail administration had requested additional police personnel from Karachi police to ensure foolproof security arrangements during her movement from Central Jail to the hospital.

Earlier, DIG Prisons Fida Hussain Mastoi had written to the AIG Karachi seeking enhanced security cover for the accused’s hospital visit.

Jail officials stated that after the postponement, jail doctors conducted a medical examination of Pinky and declared her condition stable. Authorities added that she would be shifted to a hospital only if her condition worsens or further medical intervention is required.

According to prison authorities, initial examinations had indicated kidney-related issues, while the accused is also reportedly suffering from eye and stomach ailments as well as asthma, for which she regularly uses an inhaler.
