Alix Earle reveals marriage fears and lack of intimacy contributed to Braxton Berrios split
Earle has described Berrios as her first “actual, real love”, making her reflections on the relationship significant
Alix Earle has opened up about the reasons her relationship with NFL player Braxton Berrios came to an end, admitting that fears about marriage, long-distance pressures and a lack of intimacy contributed to their split.
Earle, 25, discussed her three-year relationship with Berrios, 30, in her new Netflix reality series Earle Meets World, which gives viewers a closer look at her personal life following their breakup. The eight-episode series is now streaming on Netflix.
In the opening episode, Earle is seen driving a moving van to Berrios’ Miami home with her best friend, Sally Carden, to collect the belongings she had left behind after their separation.
As she packed up the final items from their former home, Earle reflected on what the relationship had meant to her.
“Braxton and I were together for three years. He was the first actual, real love that I’ve ever experienced,” she said.
Earle explained that she had once imagined spending the rest of her life with Berrios, saying she could picture the two of them growing old together in rocking chairs.
However, despite seeing a future with the football player, Earle admitted that the possibility of marriage had become a source of anxiety for her.
“The thought that he might be ready for marriage in the near future really stressed me out,” she said, adding, “I’m only 25. I’m not ready for that yet.”
Earle also pointed to the pressures that came with maintaining their relationship while both were busy with their careers.
“We were both busy in our careers and doing long distance at the time,” she explained. “We weren’t talking as much. We were barely communicating.”
The influencer said the distance and lack of communication eventually affected their romantic connection, with intimacy between the pair also declining towards the end of their relationship.
“It started to dwindle away a little bit,” Earle said.
Earle and Berrios first confirmed their relationship in November 2023 after making their red carpet debut together at the ESPYs earlier that year. Their relationship continued to attract considerable public attention as they supported each other at events and Berrios’ Miami Dolphins games.
Earle eventually moved in with Berrios in 2025, but the couple confirmed their split in December of that year. PEOPLE reported at the time that the breakup was a mutual decision.
Following their split, Earle has continued to discuss the emotional aftermath of the relationship and her adjustment to being single. Her Netflix series also explores her dating life after Berrios, including her highly publicised connection with retired NFL star Tom Brady.
Earle has described Berrios as her first “actual, real love”, making her reflections on the relationship particularly significant as she looks back on why it ultimately ended.
While Earle once believed Berrios could be the person she would grow old with, her comments in Earle Meets World show how concerns about their future, the demands of their careers and the deterioration of their communication and intimacy gradually changed the relationship.
All eight episodes of Earle Meets World are now available to stream on Netflix.
