Pacifiers gone viral among Chinese youth to cope with stress and sleep issues

Pacifiers, once only used for babies, are now becoming a new trend among young people in China. These adult-sized pacifiers have gone viral on social media, with many users claiming they help them sleep better and reduce stress.

According to a report by the South China Morning Post, online stores are now selling more than 2,000 pacifiers a month. These products are larger than baby pacifiers and cost anywhere from 10 to 500 yuan (around $1.4 to 70$). They are usually transparent and come with colorful shields.

Some people say these pacifiers help with anxiety, stress relief, sleep improvement, and even quitting smoking.

One buyer said, “It helps me breathe easily and feel calm.” Another shared, “I use it when I’m under work pressure, it brings me peace of mind.”

Despite the trend, doctors and health experts are concerned. They warn that while pacifiers might offer temporary comfort, relying on them could become a habit or hide deeper mental health issues.

Still, the pacifier trend continues to grow online, especially among younger users seeking new ways to relax.
