Railways increases train fares amid rising fuel prices
Due to increase in fuel prices, Pakistan Railway has increased fare of trains.
Pakistan Railways has announced a hike in fares for both express passenger and freight trains, citing the recent surge in diesel prices as the primary reason behind the decision.
Pakistan Railways has officially announced that fares for express trains and saloons will go up by 3%, while charges for freight trains will increase by 4%. These new fares will start from June 20, 2025.
A spokesperson from Pakistan Railways explained that this change was necessary because of a sharp rise in fuel prices. The increase in diesel rates has made it more expensive for the department to run its operations, which is why the fare adjustment was needed.
The new fares will apply to all express and cargo trains running across the country.
