Russia has issued a stark warning to the UK as the prime minister Andy Burnham is in Kyiv on his first foreign trip.
The purpose of Burnham’s visit was to support Ukraine by handing over the UK blueprints for long-range missiles aimed at boosting the domestic production and security of the country against Russian aggression.
Britain also agreed to allow European missile manufacturer MBDA to release classified information regarding British-made components in the SCALP long-range cruise missile.
The Kremlin slammed Britain’s decision to hand Ukraine classified information on these components of long-range missiles, saying such a move would “add to the fire.”
Regarded this move as extremely negative, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov accused the UK of derailing the potential of any peace-related progress between the parties at conflict.
“Britain is involved in this war on the side of the Kyiv regime. Britain methodically and regularly adds fuel to the fire and methodically and regularly hatches schemes to prevent even the slightest progress in the peaceful settlement process,” Peskov said.
According to Peskov, the Russian military is systematically targeting missile production sites for location and destruction.
At the heart of the dispute lies Britain’s 100 percent support for Ukraine. Last week, Russian embassy in London accused the UK of supporting Kyiv by supplying the missiles used for targeting Russian oil refineries and logistics in deep-strikes for the first time.
Embassy warned that London’s actions will inevitably carry consequences for which it will have to answer. Burnham countered such threats by stating “support Ukraine 100% against this illegal war.”
