Pakistan, Egypt discuss regional developments, agree to stay in contact

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephonic conversation on Thursday with Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, during which the two sides discussed regional developments and underscored the importance of continued dialogue and diplomatic engagement, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA).

In a post on X, MoFA said the two foreign ministers discussed regional developments and stressed the importance of continued dialogue and diplomatic engagement.

According to the ministry, Abdelatty appreciated Pakistan’s continued mediation efforts, while both leaders expressed hope that ongoing efforts would lead to an early understanding between the parties and contribute to lasting regional peace and stability.

MoFA said Abdelatty also extended an invitation to the deputy prime minister and foreign minister to attend the upcoming meeting of the Regional Four (R-4) foreign ministers in Egypt later this month, which the DPM/FM accepted.

Both sides agreed to remain in close contact, the ministry added.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Dar underscored the importance of developing a competitive, innovative and sustainable automotive ecosystem.

He stressed that such a system could support economic growth, enhance industrial capacity, generate skilled jobs and advance environmental sustainability through a future-ready automotive sector.

Dar chaired a high-level meeting to review the auto and auto parts policy, with a particular focus on accelerating Pakistan’s transition towards Electric Vehicles (EVs), the Office of the DPM said in a statement.

The committee was briefed on measures to promote EV adoption and strengthen domestic manufacturing.
