Solar panel prices surge before in Pakistan budget 2026

Solar panel prices in Pakistan have surged sharply ahead of the federal budget, with rates increasing by Rs. 7,000 to Rs. 9,000 per panel.

This spike is driven by market uncertainty and proposed government measures to raise the General Sales Tax (GST) on solar equipment from 10% to 18%.

Current Panel Rates

Wholesale market data in major hubs like Karachi, Lahore, and Faisalabad reflects significant price jumps:

585-Watt Panel:

Previously: Rs 18,000
Now: Up to Rs 27,000

645-Watt Panel:

Previously: Rs 22,000
Now: Rs 31,200

720-Watt Panel:

Previously: Rs 25,000
Now: Rs 33,500

Broader System Impact

The price hike extends beyond individual plates, severely inflating the cost of complete installations:

A standard 5kW to 10kW system has seen total installation costs jump by Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 40,000 depending on the brand.

Industry experts warn that the cost of associated components like solar inverters and batteries may continue to climb depending on final budget approvals.
