LAHORE: The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has announced the postponement of the Women’s Emerging Asia Cup 2025, which was scheduled to start on June 6 in Sri Lanka.

The decision was made following a formal request from Sri Lanka Cricket, citing concerns over adverse weather conditions and the spread of mosquito-borne chikungunya in the region. The ACC confirmed that new dates for the tournament would be announced soon, ensuring the safety and well-being of all participating teams, stated a message of ACC president Mohsin Naqvi.

The Women’s Emerging Asia Cup serves as a crucial platform for nurturing young cricketing talent across Asia, providing a pathway for future stars in the sport. The postponement, however, raises questions about the broader challenges in organising international women’s cricket events.
