Why Bradley Cooper calls Will Arnett his ‘king’ in sobriety journey?

Bradley Cooper dished on how his longtime pal Will Arnett helped him stick to his decision to get sober in the early 2000s.

The Maestro star and the Arrested Development alum both appeared in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter for the promotion of their new movie, Is This Thing On?, on Thursday.

During the conversation, the duo reflected on their friendship while Cooper looked back at the sobriety chat he had with Ernest on his podcast SmartLess back in 2022.

Cooper shared how the Murderville star’s friendship had an impact on his sobriety journey in 2004.

“Will took the risk of having that hard conversation with me that put me on the path of deciding to change my life. It is truly Will Arnett, he is the reason,” Cooper told the outlet.

He went on to say, “And it helped that it was the guy I thought I was emulating. It’s not like somebody else said it. Like, the king told me.”

Reflecting on the deep talk the pair had on the podcast, Arnett noted, “I think it allowed us both to open up and talk about our shared history, and how profound and deep those connections were.”

Cooper further recalled the early times of their friendship and how they connected, “Will was always the funniest guy in the room. The fact he’d even talk to me back then made me feel cool — and then we ended up living next to each other as young actors in Venice and we became really good friends.”
