WhatsApp to introduce new exciting feature
WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will let users share their status updates only with close friends instead of their whole contact list.
According to WABetaInfo, the platform has released a new Android beta update through the Google Play Beta Program, bringing the version to 2.25.25.11.
The update introduces better privacy controls to make it easier and faster to manage who can see status updates. Similar to Instagram’s “Close Friends” feature, WhatsApp wants to give users more control over their audience.
The redesigned interface, now available to some beta testers, appears in the drawing editor screen. At the bottom, users will see new audience selection chips that look like filters in the Chats tab. These let users switch between privacy options like “My Contacts” and “Only Share With” without leaving the screen.
By choosing “Only Share With,” users can restrict their status visibility to a specific group of contacts already set in privacy settings. This makes status sharing simpler and avoids oversharing, keeping personal updates within a trusted circle. The feature is another step toward stronger privacy and flexible sharing on WhatsApp.
