
Weather update; more rainfall and thunderstorms likely in Karachi
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has announced that parts of Karachi are likely to experience rainfall accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms.
Hot and humid weather is expected to continue in most districts of Sindh on Sunday, while some areas will see partly cloudy skies. Rain is likely in several places across Sindh, including Mithi, Umerkot, Badin, Mirpur Khas, Sanghar, Shaheed Benazirabad, Khairpur, Dadu, Sukkur, Ghotki, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Karachi, Hyderabad, and nearby regions.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department said on Saturday that a pre-monsoon weather system would start affecting the eastern parts of Sindh from Saturday evening. Scattered rain, along with gusty winds and thunderstorms, is expected in Tharparkar and Umerkot.
Earlier, the Met Office had reported that moist winds were moving into the upper parts of the country and that a westerly wave would approach around June 13.
Between June 13 and 19, dust storms, rain, and isolated hailstorms are expected in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, Galliyat, and different areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Rain is also expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and upper and central Punjab districts including Lahore, as well as in parts of Balochistan such as Zhob, Barkhan, and Musakhel. Southern Punjab is likely to experience dust storms and thunderstorms during this period.
