Was It Suicide or Something More? Ayesha Khan Case Opens

Karachi: Senior Pakistani TV actress Ayesha Khan has sadly passed away at the age of 77. Her body was discovered in her Karachi apartment after approximately a week, confirmed by police in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 7. Authorities were alerted by neighbors due to an odor emanating from her residence, where she lived alone.

Ayesha Khan’s friend, Tehmina Khalid confirmed her passing stating she died five days prior in Karachi. Her body has since been moved from Jinnah Hospital to the Edhi cold storage at Sohrab Goth, and a post-mortem examination will be conducted at her family’s request.

Born on August 22, 1948, in Karachi, Ayesha Khan was a prominent figure in PTV’s golden era. She graced many popular dramas including ‘Mubarak Ho Beti Hui Hai,’ ‘Teri Raza,’ ‘Meri Guriya,’ ‘Afshan,’ ‘Aroosa,’ ‘Family 93,’ ‘Naqab Zan,’ and ‘Mehndi.’ She was also the elder sister of the late actress Khalida Riyasat.

The news of her demise has led to an outpouring of condolences from Pakistani artists and notable personalities. Actor Adnan Siddiqui shared on Instagram, “Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return Ayesha Khan Sahiba was one of those people who leave silent yet lasting impressions.” He fondly recalled meeting her on the set of his first drama, ‘Aroosa,’ where she played his on-screen mother, and her calm and dignified presence made her a truly comforting figure.

Adnan Siddiqui further praised her quiet strength and the impactful lessons she imparted, emphasizing that “Ayesha Ji wasn’t just an actress; she was an atmosphere.” Actor Khalid Anum also shared his sorrow on Instagram, confirming the legendary actress’s passing at 76 years old, and extended prayers for her soul and patience for her family and admirers.
